How Can I Inspect Email Headers and MIME Content in a PST File?

arjunmehta
Email headers and MIME content provide technical information that is not always visible in the standard email reading window.
Headers may contain sender and recipient information, routing details, timestamps, Message-ID values, and other transport-related properties. MIME information explains how the email body, attachments, and embedded resources are structured.
MacSonik PST Viewer provides detailed email preview options that allow users to inspect headers, MIME content, and raw HTML alongside the normal message body.
To begin, load the PST archive and navigate to the folder containing the required message. Select the email and open its detailed preview.
Examine the available header information and compare sender details with the visible From address. You can also review MIME sections to understand how attachments and HTML content are represented.
For investigation purposes, retain the original PST file and avoid modifying the source data. If the information is being used in a formal legal or forensic process, preserve the original archive and follow the organization's evidence-handling procedures.
