Has anyone dealt with an email migration where the source and destination platforms are completely different? I’m looking at a setup where some mailboxes are stored in PST or OST files, while others are still hosted on IMAP or Microsoft 365. Handling each source separately could make the whole process difficult to manage.
The main concern is preserving the mailbox structure and selecting only the data that actually needs to be moved. There may be old emails that don’t need to be transferred, while important messages with attachments must be retained. Being able to filter by date range, item type, attachments, and duplicate items would make the migration much easier to control.
I’m particularly interested in whether
SysInfo Email Migration Tool can handle these mixed-source situations without requiring a completely different workflow for every account. The product information shows support for PST/OST, IMAP/POP3, Microsoft 365, GoDaddy, and Hotmail/Outlook sources, along with both local and cloud destinations.
Another thing I’m considering is how to manage multiple accounts. If dozens of IMAP or POP3 mailboxes are involved, entering each account manually could take a lot of time. CSV-based batch migration seems more practical for larger jobs, especially when the IT team needs to monitor everything from one place.
The ability to save mailbox data into formats such as PST, PDF, EML, MSG, MBOX, JSON, CSV, DOC, and DOCX could also be useful when some users need an archive rather than a direct mailbox transfer.
I’ve also been comparing different Email migration services because I want to understand whether a software-based workflow gives administrators enough control over filters, authentication, folder selection, and reporting. The live dashboard and All Reports section seem useful for checking completed, skipped, and failed items after migration.
For anyone who has used an email migrator for mixed sources, how did you handle the different authentication methods? Did you migrate everything in one batch, or divide the work by source platform and verify each group separately?
